Water purification systems for the laboratory application
Different applications require different requirements. Daily requirements play a role here, as do local conditions such as the existing water quality that can be utilised. We have adapted our water purification systems to the various customer requirements and offer a wide range of products.
Below, we have compiled an overview of our most important systems. If you have any questions or would like to clarify specific details, please do not hesitate to contact us. Simply send us a message using the contact form.
You are also welcome to try our Product Finder, which helps identify the most suitable water purification system for your application by answering a few key questions so-called „FACT“:
• F – Feed water: What is the quality of the source water? (e.g. drinking water or pre-treated water)
• A – Application: What type of application will the treated water be used for?
• C – Consumption: What is the required daily consumption and do peak consumptions need to be covered?
• T – TOC monitoring: Is online TOC monitoring required?
The Aquinity² product series is connected directly to the drinking water supply and is capable of producing Type I water in the simplest configuration as Aquinity² P10.
The Aquinity² series produces ultra pure water directly from tap water and is available in different configurations to meet the requirements of a wide range of laboratory applications. The Aquinity² P10 is equipped with an integrated reverse osmosis (RO) module and a 10 liter tank for the production and storage of deionised water. In a subsequent purification step, Type I grade ultra pure water is generated using a polisher cartridge.
Depending on the application, the system is available as a Reagent or Analytical version, with the Analytical configuration including an integrated UV lamp for low TOC values. For Life Science applications, ultra pure water with low endotoxin levels can be produced using a dedicated final filter. In addition, an optional integrated TOC sensor enables permanent online monitoring of the TOC content.
By adding an external tank, such as the Aquinity² P35/70 series with 35 litres or 70 litres, it is also possible to provide the customer with additional Type II water.
If an additional EDI cell is integrated into the water purification process, the systems are referred to as the Aquinity² E35/70 series.
These systems are recommended for applications with high water consumption or for specific requirements where the Type II water must achieve very low conductivity values.
If pre-treated water such as reverse osmosis permeate or deionised water is already available, the Astacus² system can be used for the production of Type I ultra pure water. To meet the requirements of different laboratory applications, the Astacus² is available in various configurations including Reagent, Analytical and Life Science versions. The Analytical configuration is equipped with a UV lamp for low TOC values, while the Life Science version additionally includes an ultrafiltration module for low endotoxin levels.
An optionally integrated TOC sensor enables permanent online TOC monitoring.
Our systems can also be configured either as a classic bench top system or as a bench-integrated version with a wall-mounted control panel for greater flexibility in the laboratory. For more information, simply visit the corresponding page on our website.
In addition to our classic bench top water purification systems, our product portfolio also includes two specialized systems designed for specific laboratory requirements.
The first one is the OptiPrep² series, a wall-mounted ultra pure water system designed for the production of 8 L/min of pyrogen- and nuclease-free ultra pure water from pre-treated feed water such as reverse osmosis permeate or EDI water.
The ultra pure water is generated using a combination of prefilters, mixed bed cartridges and a scavenger cartridge. To ensure consistently high water quality, the system performs an automatic recirculation whenever no water is being dispensed.
All components of the OptiPrep² series are integrated into an industrial design concept, allowing easy access for maintenance and service. In addition, the integrated μS-control continuously monitors the conductivity of the feed water to protect the purification cartridges against unsuitable water quality. If the conductivity exceeds the permitted limit, the water flow is automatically rejected.
The second system in our portfolio is the HA-RO cube large series, which is designed for the production of pure water for a wide range of applications in the field of everyday laboratory routine (e.g. laboratory dishwashers, cleaning and disinfection equipment for instrument and endoscope processing, small sterilizers, as well as the supply of pure water systems and ice makers.)
Depending on the local conditions and required water quality, the system can be operated either with drinking water in combination with an integrated water softening unit or with pre-treated drinking water.
The HA-RO cube large system is available in different configurations to meet specific application requirements. If an even higher water quality is required, the HA-RO cube large EH EDI version integrates an additional EDI cell alongside the water softening unit and provides a production capacity of up to 120 L/h with a water quality of < 1 µS/cm.
Delivered in a sturdy plastic frame and equipped with bottom rollers, the HA-RO cube large is easy to maneuver and install. Its compact design not only enables seamless integration into the laboratory landscape, but also ensures easy access to all system compartments for simplified maintenance and service. With only a few components requiring replacement, the system offers low maintenance requirements and straightforward operation.

We rely on two different purification technologies to cover applications ranging from drinking water up to ultra pure water production.
Our miniTOC² analyser operates on the principle of proven UV oxidation and differential conductivity, the established method for reliable trace TOC analysis in ultrapure water.
The UV oxidation is used to break down the organic components. The TOC content in the sample can then be determined by measuring the conductivity before and after oxidation This technique is widely used due to its reliability and combines fast, robust measurement with standards-compliant documentation (including USP <643>, EP 2.2.44).
Our system is also able to measure individual samples using the so-called ‘sample mode’. It is also possible to connect an autosampler with up to 80 positions (40 mL) if a larger volume of samples needs to be handled.
Like the miniTOC², the flexiTOC uses UV oxidation to convert organic carbon compounds in aqueous samples into carbon dioxide (CO₂). However, unlike the miniTOC², the generated CO₂ is not determined via conductivity measurement but instead quantified using a highly sensitive NDIR detector. This detection principle enables the flexiTOC to cover applications ranging from tap water up to ultra pure water while providing excellent detection limits and long-term measurement stability.
Depending on the application, the system supports reagent-free operation for TOC concentrations below 2000 ppb as well as operation with reagent addition for higher TOC concentrations or samples containing less easily oxidizable substances.
Our TOC analyzers are based on a modular design concept, meaning that the final system configuration can be adapted directly to the customer’s technical requirements and application needs. The TOC analyzers offers a wide range of configuration options for online and offline TOC monitoring.

With our ARACUS chromatography series, amino acid analyses can be carried out using post-column derivatisation with ninhydrin, still know as the gold standard.
The amino acid analyzer is similar in design to a classic HPLC system. It is specifically optimized for amino acid analysis in order to determine individual amino acids qualitatively and quantitatively.
Our ARACUS systems are designed for use in clinics, quality control, the pharmaceutical and food industry as well as in research. Our systems are equipped with maintenance-free LED photometers, so there is no need to replace UV lamps. Our systems work with phenol-free buffers and reagents, have low eluent consumption and easy access to all components of the entire system means that any issues that may arise can be resolved.
We can provide information regarding a lot of applications that we can already cover with our amino acid analyzer and have developed either ourselves or in collaboration with customers or cooperation partners (industry and research institutions)
In addition, you will find a collection of scientific publications in which our ARACUS amino acid analyzer has been used. These articles provide insight into various fields of application, demonstrate the practical benefits of the system and highlight the results achieved through its use. Unless stated otherwise, all publications are available in English.
